Resilient Gwinnett Stewards of Children Training (Virtual)
April 7 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children is an adult-focused training that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
Child sexual abuse is likely the most prevalent health problem children face, with the most serious array of consequences. In fact, 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday.
Child sexual abuse happens as a result of the choices adults make. Not just the choices child abusers make, but the choices parents, schools, churches, and youth-serving organizations make. In many cases, prevention is a matter of making better choices for our children. We will explore what those better choices are, how to recognize the signs of abuse, and what to do if a child makes a disclosure.
Stewards of Children is offered by a trained facilitator via Zoom and uses real people and real stories to show you how to protect children.
Certificates of attendance documenting hours will be provided after the session upon completion of the course evaluation. Please note: If you miss more than 15 minutes of the training – including being late or leaving early – we will be unable to provide you with certification. CEUs are available for Social Workers, Nurses, Dentists, and Dental hygienists, BFTS, EMS, and Law Enforcement P.O.S.T.
This training requires a minimum of five participants. If there are not at least five people registered, it will be canceled. If you are signed up for a training that is canceled, we will reach out to you the day before to let you know and will offer to move your registration to another training date.
This training is being held as a part of the Resilient Gwinnett initiative. If you can’t attend this event, check out the other events we’re offering here or contact us to request a training for your group of five or more.
Registration will close at 5 pm on Thursday, March 31.
