Executive Director
Reports to: Board of Directors
Status: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Executive Director for the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services is a visionary leader who possesses skill in setting and guiding a widely shared vision and mission; fostering a positive climate of mutual trust and respect in the community; and managing the day-to-day operations of a diverse and growing nonprofit organization. The executive director’s duties include oversight of the strategic plan implementation, community engagement and organization, staff and volunteer management, external and internal communications, fundraising, fiscal management, grant administration and reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a visionary leader to guide the organization and the community
- Provides oversight of day-to-day operations of the organization
- Responsible for the hiring, supervision and retention of competent and qualified staff, interns and volunteers
- Responsible for board development and engagement of board of directors
- Oversees the development and coordination of a county-wide strategic plan for children and families
- Oversees and manages community cross-sector collaborations
- Develops and manages annual organizational budget, to include fundraising and financial reporting
- Cultivates and solicits prospective donors and key leaders; leverages professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities; promotes a culture of fundraising within the organization, both at the staff and board level
- Negotiates contracts and provides administrative oversight for grants and contracts
- Develops and maintains partnerships with local universities and academic institutions
- Provides oversight and develops strategies to ensure strategic priorities are met
- Serves as marketing and communication liaison with key stakeholders, public, media and community at large
- Serves as representative on local, regional, state, and national organizations related to Coalition work
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proven leader with a combination of professional expertise achieved though service in roles with progressively increased responsibility over time, indicating familiarity with varying aspects of leadership, politics, finance, and management of the nonprofit sector and the needs of a diverse community
- Knowledge of and passion for addressing the social service issues in Gwinnett County
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills; fluent in a second language, both oral and written (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn technology and software necessary to perform the functions of the job; proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Willingness to travel to regional, state and national meetings and events as necessary, including evenings and weekends
- Strong organizational abilities in planning, delegating, reporting, facilitation and management
- Ability to be a strategic leader and visionary, highly self-motivated and work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Strong in areas of creativity, innovation, resourcefulness, and leadership
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and deadlines; highly adaptable to rapidly evolving and changing environments
- Exceptional relationship development and management skills to foster partnerships, fundraising and other organizational opportunities
- Strong business development foundation and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of current research-based practices in Health and Human Services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Work, Human Services, Organizational Development and Leadership, or similar field preferred with 15 years of work experience in non-profit management or in the health and human services administration; or a Master’s Degree in the above fields with 10 years experience in non-profit management and/or in health and human services administration.

- 10+ years experience with program oversight and administration
- 10+ years experience with staff supervision and volunteer management
- 10+ years of successful oversight of grants, fundraising, and organizational budgeting
