Gwinnett Coalition Applauds Gwinnett County’s New Veterans Program

The Gwinnett Coalition is pleased to serve as Contributing Sponsor of the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s racial equity project, a local initiative that aspires to center issues of equity for county-wide impact.

United Way of Greater Atlanta’s focus on racial equity is linked to the need to reduce and prevent racial inequities across systems that impact child well-being—education, health, housing, and economic stability—in the Greater Atlanta region. Communities thrive only when every child, regardless of race, identity, or circumstances, has equitable opportunities to achieve their full potential. To achieve this promise, United Way counts on its United for Racial Equity and Healing Fund as a way of investing in racial equity solutions and galvanizing philanthropic partners, individual donors, and other funding partners in advancing racial equity in the community and within their institutions.

United Way in Gwinnett’s community equity project is a multi-phase initiative focused on addressing issues of equity and social justice. Project phases include raising awareness, grounding, learning and skill building, and connection and empowerment. The Gwinnett Coalition is supporting the grounding phase that involves data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the development of recommendations for a community-wide action plan.

“The Gwinnett Coalition’s longstanding dedication to serving residents and their recent strategic shift and progressive focus on the health and well-being of all Gwinnettians makes them the ideal partner,” says Denise Townsend, United Way of Greater Atlanta’s regional director. “We are excited to unite with them to address this complex issue and advance equity in Gwinnett.”
